When Moses led the Israelites from captivity, he guided them not with a map, not with signs showing exactly how to get there, but with the presence of God. The scriptures describe that there was a cloud by day and fire by night, and those signs were always ahead of them. They didn’t need to see the whole path like we do with GPS. They just needed to follow what was in front of them.
And that’s where a lot of us struggle in this life.
We want to see what’s ahead of us before we’re obedient. We want some kind of certainty before we trust God. But God doesn’t work that way. He’s never worked that way.
That same God who guided them through the wilderness still guides us today. He doesn’t use pillars of cloud and fire anymore, but now He does it through what Jesus Christ brought to us… the companionship of the Holy Ghost. He guides us through that quiet, constant companionship.
So we don’t have to question whether God is still guiding us. The real question is… are we paying attention to the Holy Ghost?
I love this quote from C. S. Lewis:
You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.
That change doesn’t come from trying to control your life. It comes from following the Spirit when you feel it and when you recognize its guidance.
Sometimes that light isn’t going to be very bright… but it will be there. Sometimes it will come as a feeling, a prompting. A lot of people call it a gut feeling, but it’s not. That prompting is the Spirit, and that feeling brings you peace.
And what’s amazing is that when you follow it and learn to recognize it, you begin to identify it more and more. Over time, you develop that “GPS” in your life… which is the Holy Ghost.
I also love this quote from Jeffrey R. Holland:
Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don’t come until heaven… but for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come.
That’s trust. That’s faith.
We don’t always have to understand the path God has in front of us. We just have to trust and know that He knows every single one of us… and that we are not walking alone.
So in our journey, remember… God is still guiding us, just like He guided the Israelites.
The light was never meant to show us the whole path…
just the next step.
Because faith isn’t built by seeing everything…it’s built by learning to listen to the Holy Spirit
and following the light we’ve been given.
And as we follow that light…and listen more closely to the Spirit…the brighter our light becomes.
Cuando Moisés guio a los israelitas fuera del cautiverio, no los guio con un mapa, ni con señales que mostraran exactamente cómo llegar, sino con la presencia de Dios. Las escrituras describen que había una nube de día y fuego de noche, y esas señales siempre iban delante de ellos. No necesitaban ver todo el camino como nosotros con el GPS. Solo necesitaban seguir lo que tenían enfrente.
Y ahí es donde muchos de nosotros batallamos en esta vida.
Queremos ver lo que está adelante antes de obedecer. Queremos algún tipo de certeza antes de confiar en Dios. Pero Dios no trabaja así. Nunca ha trabajado así.
Ese mismo Dios que los guio por el desierto, todavía nos guía hoy. Ya no usa columnas de nube y fuego, pero ahora lo hace a través de lo que Jesucristo nos dio… la compañía del Espíritu Santo. Él nos guía por medio de esa compañía constante y silenciosa.
Así que no tenemos que cuestionar si Dios todavía nos está guiando. La verdadera pregunta es… ¿estamos prestando atención al Espíritu Santo?
Me encanta esta cita de C. S. Lewis:
No puedes regresar y cambiar el principio, pero puedes empezar donde estás y cambiar el final.
Ese cambio no viene de tratar de controlar tu vida. Viene de seguir al Espíritu cuando lo sientes y cuando reconoces su guía.
A veces esa luz no va a ser muy brillante… pero va a estar ahí. A veces llegará como un sentimiento, una impresión. Mucha gente le llama intuición, pero no lo es. Esa impresión es el Espíritu, y ese sentimiento trae paz.
Y lo increíble es que cuando lo sigues y aprendes a reconocerlo, empiezas a identificarlo cada vez más. Con el tiempo, desarrollas ese “GPS” en tu vida… que es el Espíritu Santo.
También me encanta esta cita de Jeffrey R. Holland:
Algunas bendiciones llegan pronto, otras llegan tarde, y algunas no llegan hasta el cielo… pero para quienes abrazan el evangelio de Jesucristo, llegan.
Eso es confianza.
Eso es fe.
No siempre tenemos que entender el camino que Dios tiene frente a nosotros. Solo tenemos que confiar y saber que Él conoce a cada uno de nosotros… y que no estamos caminando solos.
Así que en nuestro camino, recuerda… Dios todavía nos está guiando, así como guio a los israelitas.
La luz nunca fue hecha para mostrarnos todo el camino…
solo el siguiente paso.
Porque la fe no se construye viendo todo…
se construye aprendiendo a escuchar al Espíritu Santo
y siguiendo la luz que se nos ha dado.
Y mientras seguimos esa luz…
y aprendemos a escuchar más atentamente al Espíritu…
nuestra luz se vuelve más brillante.
