Who Are We When No One Is Watching............Quiénes Somos Cuando Nadie Nos Ve

Who Are We When No One Is Watching

President Gordon B Hinckley once shared a striking observation about character. He taught that you cannot truly measure a person by how they perform their daily work. Real character is revealed when the work is finished. It is revealed in where a person goes, who they choose to be with, and what they do when they are free to do as they please.

He illustrated this truth with a powerful comparison. The eagle and the hog both work hard. Both provide for themselves and their young. But when their work is done and they are free, they choose very different environments. The eagle rises. It seeks clean air, open skies, and higher ground. The hog sinks. It looks for mud and filth, because that is what it loves.

President Hinckley’s point is simple but piercing. People can be either eagles or hogs in their leisure time.

Obedience When It Is Optional

This teaching invites an uncomfortable but necessary question. Who are we when obedience becomes optional

It is relatively easy to live the commandments when structure surrounds us. Church on Sunday. A calling. A visible community that expects a certain standard. But discipleship is not proven in structured moments. It is proven in unguarded ones.

What do we do when no one is checking

Who do we become after we leave church

When Beliefs Are Not Shared

Consider the moments when we are surrounded by people who do not share our beliefs. Friends. Coworkers. Social circles. Potential romantic relationships.

Do we quietly lower our standards to fit in

Do we mirror habits we once avoided in order to be accepted Drinking. Cussing. Joking in ways that slowly dull our spiritual sensitivity.

None of these choices happen all at once. They happen subtly. A laugh here. A compromise there. A justification that says it is harmless or temporary.

But leisure reveals love.

The eagle does not avoid the mud because it is forced to. It avoids it because it does not belong there.

Testimony Beyond the Chapel Doors

A real testimony is not something we put on for Sunday and remove on Monday.

True love for God is demonstrated in continuity. The same values inside the chapel continue outside of it. The same standards we defend among believers are quietly upheld among nonbelievers.

This does not mean we isolate ourselves or judge others. Christ sat with sinners. He loved deeply and without condition. But He never mirrored behavior to gain acceptance. He never diluted truth to maintain comfort.

He was constant.

The Question That Matters

Joshua’s ancient challenge still speaks with urgency today:

“Choose you this day whom ye will serve.”

This is not a one time declaration. It is a daily choice made in small moments, quiet settings, and unobserved decisions.

President Hinckley’s teaching leaves us with a personal question that cannot be answered publicly. Only privately.

When I am free to choose

Where do I go

Who do I seek

What atmosphere do I love

Because that answer reveals far more than our Sunday appearance ever could.

We can be good people. Kind. Hard working. Well liked.

But discipleship asks for more than goodness. It asks for loyalty. Integrity. Alignment.

The eagle rises not because it is watched, but because it loves the heights.

President Gordon B Hinckley reminded us with clarity and mercy:

“We are not asked to be perfect, but we are asked to be consistent.”

The eagle does not rise because it is required to. It rises because it loves higher ground.

When structure disappears, belief is revealed. When no one is watching, loyalty is proven.

So the real question is not whether we attend church. It is whether the God we worship on Sunday is still the God we serve when obedience is optional.

“Escogeos hoy a quién sirváis.”

When the future looked me in the eyes.....Cuando el futuro me miró a los ojos

When the future looked me in the eyes

I have been divorced for about fourteen years.

During that time, one question has quietly followed me through seasons of healing, growth, loneliness, and rebuilding: What will my eternal companion be like? Not simply in appearance or personality, but in spirit. In how life will feel beside her. In the long arc of time.

Years ago, one night, I had what I can only describe as a dream, though it felt different than an ordinary one. You might even call it a vision, not in a prophetic sense, but in a deeply personal and symbolic one. It felt given rather than imagined.

In it, I saw myself with someone.

What struck me immediately was not who she was, but how time moved. It unfolded like a movie, fast-forwarding through scenes. Not linear, not detailed, but complete.

I saw us camping together, traveling, laughing in unfamiliar places. I saw us attending church side by side, sitting together in quiet reverence. I saw family gatherings, ordinary moments, and shared traditions. I saw a temple marriage, not as a ceremony, but as a shared direction. I saw years passing, seasons changing, and in every scene, we were next to each other.

Always together.

The emotion that filled me was not excitement, but fulfillment. A quiet, settled happiness. The kind that feels like peace.

As the movie reached its end, time slowed. The scenes faded. She stood in front of me and turned around to face me.

And then everything else disappeared.

I could not see her face. Not her expression, not her smile, not her lips or her nose. I could not tell you her age or her features. All I could see were her eyes.

Clear. Loving. Familiar.

They were the kind of eyes you want to wake up to every morning. The kind that make you feel known, safe, and chosen.

That was all I was allowed to see.

When I woke up, the feeling stayed with me.

Since then, I have carried that experience quietly into my relationships. Maybe it sounds irrational. Maybe it limits me. But I have always felt that the first thing I must fall in love with is a woman’s eyes. Not because eyes are magical, but because they are honest. They reveal presence. They reveal depth. They reveal the soul far more than words ever can.

I have met women whose eyes I believed matched what I saw, and I tried to convince myself they were the ones. But often it was my own desire, and at times my impatience, that shaped that belief. Learning to trust God’s timetable instead of my own has not been easy. There are millions of eyes in the world, and not every resemblance is fulfillment.

This experience often reminds me of Nephi.

Nephi was shown the future of his people. He saw the coming of Christ. He saw the Book of Mormon come forth. Like John in the book of Revelation, he was shown a sequence of events he would never personally live. Not so he could control the future, but so he could endure the present. He saw the end so he could walk faithfully through the beginning.

I once heard a General Authority teach that we should live by understanding the end from the beginning, or perhaps to begin with the end in mind. I do not remember the exact wording, but the principle stayed with me.

Some visions are not about prediction. They are about direction.

Seeing the end of my “movie” was not about knowing who she is or when she will come into my life. It was about seeing who I need to become. Watching that future unfold, feeling the happiness and peace we shared, did not make me impatient. It gave me purpose.

It showed me the kind of man capable of creating that kind of life.

If that future is real, then the work is now.

Knowing the end encourages me to live differently in the present. It pushes me to keep growing emotionally, to heal what still needs healing, and to draw closer to God. Not out of fear, but out of desire. I want to be aligned with Him so that when the time comes, I am prepared, not scrambling.

I want to be the kind of man who makes a woman feel the way she made me feel in that dream: safe, chosen, at peace, and joyful. Not because I complete her, but because we walk together in the same direction.

So I keep becoming better, one day at a time.
Not perfect, but intentional.

And when the day comes, when I finally look into those eyes again, I believe I will not only recognize them, but I will be worthy to discover the smile I have patiently waited to smile back at.

Tal vez suene irracional. Tal vez me limite.

Me dio propósito.

No perfecto, sino intencional.

The Ephesians Man and the Proverbs Woman......El Hombre de Efesios y la Mujer de Proverbios:

The Ephesians Man and the Proverbs Woman: A Blueprint for Love, Leadership, and Lasting Relationships

In Christian circles, people often talk about “an Ephesians man for a Proverbs woman.” On the surface, it sounds poetic. But beneath the poetry lies a powerful model for relationships built on emotional maturity, spiritual alignment, and reciprocal growth.

This is not about perfection. It’s about becoming a kind of partner who loves with purpose, leads with integrity, and builds a relationship rooted in mutual devotion and strength.

Let’s break down both sides, and explore what modern relationship experts and timeless spiritual wisdom say about becoming — and choosing — this kind of partner.

The Ephesians Man: Love with Sacrifice, Leadership with Gentleness

Ephesians 5 describes a man who loves his partner “as Christ loved the Church” — meaning with sacrifice, consistency, and unwavering devotion. Relationship researchers like Dr. John Gottman emphasize that the strongest men in relationships are not domineering but emotionally attuned. They lead with empathy, responsibility, and respect.

An Ephesians man isn’t perfect; he’s accountable.
He doesn’t control; he protects.
He doesn’t demand; he gives.

Key qualities of an Ephesians man:

• Loves through consistent behavior, not just words
• Takes responsibility for his emotions and actions
• Leads spiritually and emotionally without coercion
• Creates safety, not anxiety
• Honors her individuality and purpose
• Works on himself — discipline, stability, faith

Spiritual insight: Christ-led love is not weak. It is the strongest form of love because it costs you ego, pride, and selfishness. A man who embodies this becomes a shelter, not a storm.

The Proverbs Woman: Wisdom, Strength, and Emotional Maturity

Proverbs 31 describes a woman whose worth is “far above rubies.” She is not praised because she is quiet, passive, or submissive — she is praised because she is wise, capable, loyal, calm, and spiritually grounded.

Psychologists often describe high-value women as those who carry secure attachment, emotional regulation, and self-respect. A Proverbs woman mirrors this exactly.

Key qualities of a Proverbs woman:

• Brings emotional peace, not chaos
• Is loyal, dependable, and trustworthy
• Builds rather than destroys
• Speaks with kindness, not impulsivity
• Strengthens her partner’s mission rather than competing with it
• Is spiritually mature and self-aware

Spiritual insight: Her strength comes from God, not performance. Her radiance is the result of inner alignment — wisdom, faith, character.

When These Two Meet: A Relationship filled with peace and purpose.

When people reference “the Ephesians man and the Proverbs woman,” they are describing a relationship where both partners carry weight, responsibility, and devotion.

In modern terms, relationship therapists would call this a secure-functioning couple — two people who create safety for each other and lead each other upward.

Together, they create:

• A dynamic of mutual honor
• A home filled with trust instead of suspicion
• Growth rather than stagnation
• Emotional safety instead of triggering battles
• A shared purpose bigger than romance

Spiritually, this kind of couple mirrors a divine pattern:
he loves with Christlike devotion
she builds with God-given wisdom

Not dominance. Not blind submission.
Simply two people carrying their roles with maturity, faith, and intention.

What relationship experts think about this..

Modern research actually supports what scripture taught long ago.

1. Love thrives where there is emotional safety.
Experts like Dr. Gottman show that relationships fail when partners feel criticized, controlled, or unsafe. Ephesians 5 teaches men to create a climate of emotional and spiritual protection.

2. Respect isn’t old-fashioned — it’s essential.
Studies show that women feel most loved when they feel emotionally valued and respected. Proverbs 31 describes a woman who is honored, trusted, and appreciated.

3. Growth is a shared responsibility.
Healthy couples do not wait for one person to “fix themselves.” Both commit to evolving, healing, and supporting each other’s spiritual and emotional progress.

4. Security breeds intimacy.
Secure partners create the deepest connection. The Ephesians man offers stability; the Proverbs woman offers peace — a perfect emotional ecosystem.

Why is this important in our time?

We live in a world of hyper-independence, emotional avoiders, fearful attachments, and fast relationships with shallow foundations.
This ancient pairing calls us back to something higher:

A relationship where both people rise.
Where both are protected.
Where both feel valued.
Where both walk with God.

It’s not about gender roles — it’s about character roles.

Becoming a person who can love deeply.
Becoming a partner who can lead with humility.
Becoming someone who builds instead of breaks.

If you strive to be an Ephesians man or a Proverbs woman, you aren’t chasing perfection.
You’re chasing purpose, growth, and divinity in daily life.

Final thoughts

I have been in a relationship filled with turmoil. And looking back with clarity, I realize that the one thing I truly wanted — the one thing all men want, at their core — was peace.

Not emotional volatility.
Not endless highs and lows.
Not intensity without stability.
And definitely not an emotional rollercoaster.

Peace.

I learned that peace is not boring; it is safety. It is not the absence of love; it is evidence that love is healthy. A man can endure external pressure, responsibility, and sacrifice, but when the emotional home becomes a battleground, the soul slowly wears down.

I also learned that outer peace can be deceiving. A smile, a gentle tone, or a calm appearance does not always reflect what is happening internally. That is why it is essential to understand the emotional and spiritual landscape of the people we allow into our lives.

True peace cannot be performed. It is built from within. It comes from emotional maturity, healed wounds, a grounded spiritual life, and the ability to love without causing harm.

That is why today I know this: before seeking connection, attraction, or chemistry, we must seek emotional and spiritual alignment. Because in the end, the love that lasts is not the one that promises the most — but the one that brings the most peace.

And the truth is simple:

You don’t find this type of partner.
You become this type of person first.

And then, someone walking at the same spiritual level will come alongside you — not as a rescue, but as a reflection of  what you can give and what you deserve.

No controla; protege.

• Crea seguridad, no ansiedad

• Aporta paz emocional, no caos

No dominación. No sumisión ciega.

No volatilidad emocional.
No altibajos interminables.
No intensidad sin estabilidad.
Y definitivamente no una montaña rusa emocional.

Paz.

The Type of Woman a Man of God Is Searching For....El tipo de Mujer un hombre de Dios busca...

The Type of Woman a Man of God Is Searching For

When you study the life of Jesus Christ closely, something beautiful and surprising emerges, something  that many of us never paid much attention to. During His most painful, lonely, and difficult moments, when the Apostles were confused, afraid, or physically absent, it was the women who remained by His side. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, Joanna, Salome, and the other devoted women stayed near Christ when the world grew dark. Mary Magdalene was present at the cross when others fled. She watched carefully as His body was taken down and placed into the tomb. She rose before sunrise to anoint His body when the Apostles hid behind locked doors. She became the first mortal witness of the resurrected Savior, not because she was the most educated or powerful, but because she was there. She remained. She loved with devotion.

This quiet pattern in scripture reflects something powerful about the masculine heart. Whether consciously or not, modern men of faith long for a relationship that mirrors the devotion these women showed Christ. Relationship psychology confirms this desire. Dr. Sue Johnson teaches that the deepest need in romantic bonding is secure attachment: the assurance that someone will stand with you when life becomes difficult. Dr. John Gottman’s work shows that a man opens emotionally only when he feels safe, supported, and understood. Therapist Esther Perel notes that men crave not distance but loyalty, a partner who stays emotionally engaged even during conflict. Psychologist Henry Cloud adds that men thrive when they are partnered with a woman who stands beside them in purpose, not one who withdraws when things become uncomfortable. In essence, men who are striving to follow God want the same thing Christ received from these faithful women. They want the reassurance that when life gets overwhelming, the woman beside them will not disappear.

A man who is committed to a divine path carries his own crosses. He wrestles with his own Gethsemanes, his own private battles, his own wilderness moments. When he reaches these seasons, he does not need criticism, rivalry, mood swings, or abandonment. He needs presence. He needs steadiness. He needs the kind of loyalty Mary Magdalene embodied so naturally. She did not follow Christ only when He fed the multitudes, performed miracles, or walked on water. She did not vanish when the crowds turned hostile or when His ministry became dangerous. She walked toward the cross, toward the tomb, and toward the darkness because her devotion was anchored not in convenience but in covenant-like love. That is the kind of love that strengthens the masculine soul.

Men of faith do not simply want companionship. They want a partner in purpose, someone who can minister to their spirit as they minister to hers. A godly man wants a woman who remains emotionally present even in conflict, who offers loyalty when circumstances feel uncertain, who supports his mission and encourages his potential, who speaks life into him when he feels discouraged, and who stands beside him during spiritual or emotional battles. He is not asking for perfection. He is asking for presence. He is not asking for blind obedience. He is asking for faithful connection. He is not requesting someone who worships him. He is praying for someone who walks with him, someone who sees who he is becoming—not just the chapter he is currently in.

The contrast between the Apostles and the women at the end of Christ’s life reveals what the heart of a man longs for. When Jesus was arrested, the Apostles fled, but the women stayed. During the crucifixion, most of the Apostles hid, but the women stood near the cross. During His burial, no Apostle is recorded as present, but the women followed His body and remained. On resurrection morning, while the Apostles hid in fear, the women moved toward the tomb before sunrise. These details matter. They show that devotion is not measured by what someone feels during the good times, but by who shows up during the painful ones.

A man who is trying to walk with God understands that his calling is heavy. He knows his purpose will require sacrifice. He knows he will have days of fatigue and nights of spiritual wrestling. What he hopes for is a woman who will not run from these moments. He hopes for a woman with the courage to stand at the cross with him, the tenderness to walk with him toward healing, the devotion to rise early with faith in her heart, and the consistency to stay when others would leave. A man of God is searching for a relationship where love feels like partnership, loyalty, and spiritual companionship. He longs for the kind of devotion Christ experienced from Mary Magdalene and the women who ministered to Him. Not love that leaves when it becomes inconvenient. Not love that hides when it becomes uncomfortable. Not love that gives up when growth is required. He desires love that remains. Love that ministers. Love that stands beside purpose. Love that sees resurrection potential even when life feels like a tomb.

This is the type of woman a man of God is searching for. The woman he cherishes. The woman he honors. The woman he never forgets. The woman whose love reflects heaven’s loyalty.

Angels descending Angles involved in our lives...Angeles deciendeny estan involucrados en nuestras vidas

A true story of divine protection

In my early twenties, my then-wife and I were newlyweds living in Mexico. We were staying in my parents’ basement, and homes in Mexico are built very differently than in the United States. Everything is made of cinder block or brick. No insulation, no wood, no central heating. Winters get cold, and the only way to warm the house was with a small space heater connected to a propane tank outside. A rubber hose ran from the tank into the room where the heater sat. It was normal. Everyone did it.

Around five months into her pregnancy, my then-wife began experiencing early contractions. The doctor told us she was at risk of losing the baby and needed complete rest. Since her mother lived in the same city, we decided it would be safest for her to stay there while I continued working. So I took her to her mom’s home, made sure she was settled and cared for, and then returned alone to the basement.

One morning, while asleep under warm blankets, I heard a voice. It told me to wake up. The voice was calm but firm. I felt heavy and exhausted, like I had only slept a few minutes. I ignored it. I told myself I needed five more minutes.

The voice came again, stronger. You need to get up. You need to go take care of the things that are pending.

Again, I resisted. I felt groggy, almost drugged. My eyes felt too heavy to open.

The third time, the voice came with power and urgency. Wake up before it is too late.

Those words went straight through me. The tone was unmistakable. It carried a seriousness that shook me. I forced my eyes open, even though my eyelids felt like they were weighted down. I got up, put on my jacket, and climbed the stairs toward the outside door.

As soon as I stepped onto the stairs, I felt something strange. A rush of cold air filled my chest. It felt clean and refreshing, almost like the feeling you get when you breathe in after taking a strong mint or a Halls cough drop. It felt pure. It felt like life.

I went upstairs to the main floor of the house and noticed how late it was. I had never overslept like that. I tried to remember what was so urgent and why I felt like I had to be up. Nothing came to mind, but I stayed awake and headed back downstairs.

Halfway down the stairs, the smell hit me.

Propane gas. Heavy. Thick. Everywhere.

I froze. The entire basement was full of gas. The heater’s pilot light must have gone out during the night, and the propane had been leaking for hours. I could barely breathe. The concentration was so strong it burned my nose and throat. I ran back up, took another breath, and rushed down to open every window and door. Then I raced outside to shut off the propane tank.

As the fresh air slowly pushed the gas out, I realized why I had been so groggy, why I could not keep my eyes open, and why the voice had sounded so urgent. I started feeling little bumps rising on my skin, my hands, arms, legs, and face. I panicked and called a friend who was a doctor. He lived five minutes away.

When he examined me, he stepped back and shook his head. Then he smiled and said, Somebody upstairs really likes you.

I asked him what he meant.

He told me, This is severe propane gas intoxication. You should not be alive.

That is when everything hit me. The voice. The urgency. The command to wake up before it was too late. The sudden cold rush of air in my chest. My then-wife being away and safe in her mother’s home. All of it.

God had warned me. God had protected me. Either He spoke to me directly or He sent an angel to do it.

I should have died that morning, but I did not. And it was not luck. It was not coincidence. It was intervention. I was preserved for my future, for the children I would one day have, for the life I still needed to live.

Sometimes we go through life unaware of the quiet miracles happening around us. But I know this. God is real. Angels are real. The veil is thin, and heaven is far more involved in our lives than we often realize.

That morning in Mexico was not just a close call. It was a rescue.

And I carry it with me as a reminder that God still speaks, God still warns, and God still saves.

Angels Are Still Among Us

Scripture is not silent on this.
Angels minister to God’s children, not just in ancient times, but today.

1 Nephi 11:30 tells us:

“And I looked, and I beheld the heavens open again, and I saw angels descending upon the children of men, and they did minister unto them.”

The pattern is clear.
Angels descend.
They minister.
They minister not just to prophets or chosen few, but to the children of men. Meaning all of us.

Other Scriptures

Alma 13:24 teaches that “angels are declaring glad tidings” even now.

Moroni 7:29 asks us directly:
“Have miracles ceased? Behold, I say unto you, Nay neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men.”

Hebrews 1:14 describes angels as “ministering spirits” sent forth to serve those who will inherit salvation.

The Bible and the Book of Mormon are consistent.
Heaven is involved.
Angels work on earth.
They minister, strengthen, warn, comfort, protect, and guide.

Teachings from Modern Prophets and Apostles

President Russell M. Nelson

President Nelson has repeatedly testified that angels assist the covenant people. He teaches that “Heaven is not far away and those who live on the other side of the veil are very aware of us.”
He once said that righteous departed loved ones are “not far, and they are very interested in your well being.”

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

Elder Holland is perhaps the strongest modern voice on angels. His message “The Ministry of Angels” is a masterpiece. He teaches that angels come both from the other side of the veil and also as mortal angels around us. He said:

“Some of them we cannot see. Some of them we can. But always they come.”

He adds that angels are commanded to “disperse the powers of darkness.”

Elder Dallin H. Oaks

Elder Oaks taught that angels minister to those who keep their covenants and to those who pray with real intent.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Elder Uchtdorf taught that God often sends angels in the form of ordinary people moved by the Spirit to bless another person’s life.

President Gordon B. Hinckley

He said that ministering angels from the other side of the veil “watch over this Church” and participate in the work of salvation.

President Joseph F. Smith

His visions and writings are full of references to ministering angels being involved in the daily work of God, especially tied to family and temple covenants.

Historical Church Stories of Angels

Joseph Smith saw angels many times.
The Angel Moroni visited him repeatedly.
The Kirtland Temple was filled with angelic manifestations.
The school of the prophets spoke openly about angels assisting in the restoration.

Brigham Young taught that “angels are near us, though unseen.”

He emphasized that angels are often family members who passed away.

C. S. Lewis

Lewis wrote that the invisible world is “vastly more real” than the visible one.
In “The Screwtape Letters,” he teaches that the spiritual world is active, near, and constantly influencing us.

In “Mere Christianity,” Lewis reminds us that God sends help in forms we do not always recognize.

His famous line fits perfectly here:
“There are no ordinary people.”
This implies that all people we encounter might be messengers in disguise.

Why Angels Minister To Us

Because God loves His children.
Because the covenant path requires divine assistance.
Because the plan of salvation is a family plan, and angels are part of our eternal family.
Because the veil is thin.
Because mortality is too hard to face alone.

What Angelic Ministry Looks Like Today

Not all angels appear with glory.

Some come as impressions.
Some as sudden clarity.
Some as the unexpected strength to forgive.
Some as your bishop knocking at your door at the exact moment you needed someone.
Some as a scripture appearing in your mind with perfect timing.
Some as a departed loved one comforting you quietly, softly, unmistakably.
Some as protection in moments you never even knew were dangerous.
Some as a friend offering counsel without you ever mentioning the need.
Some as a conversation that answers a prayer you whispered only in your heart.
Some as a feeling to turn left instead of right.
Some as a peaceful warmth when everything around you feels cold.
Some as a sudden urge to reach out to someone who later tells you, “You have no idea how much I needed that right now.”
Some as a moment of courage that feels borrowed from Heaven.
Some as a calm voice that whispers, “Keep going. You’re not done yet.”
Some as the unmistakable feeling that you are being watched over, guided, and remembered.

Angels minister in a thousand quiet ways.
Most of them gentle.
Most of them subtle.
But all of them real.

As Elder Holland taught:
“If you are lonely, if you need comfort, if you need hope, angels are still sent to help.”

Heaven is not silent. Heaven is not far. And angels, both seen and unseen, are actively ministering to us every single day.

One day, after this life, we may find out just how many times Heaven stepped in and we never realized it.
But for now, we walk by faith, trusting the promise Nephi saw:

“I beheld the heavens open again, and I saw angels descending upon the children of men, and they did minister unto them.”  And they still do.

Esas palabras me estremecieron.

Vivía a cinco minutos.
No deberías estar vivo.”

No has terminado.”

Remember who you truly are.. Recuerda quién eres realmente..

Remember who you truly are..

In my life, I have come to feel, and I mean deeply feel, that we are shaped not only by what we read, or where we go, or what we think, but by who we choose to walk beside on this mortal journey.

The Savior did not just preach doctrine, He embodied it. He lived alongside His disciples. He prayed with them, ached with them, loved them. And in that proximity, their hearts learned to beat with His. There is something sacred that happens when souls draw near and walk together in righteousness.

Science tells us that when people connect deeply, breathing synchronizes, heartbeats align, brainwaves harmonize. But the scriptures told us this first:

“Be one, and if ye are not one ye are not mine.”
“Of one heart and one mind.”
“Knitted together in love.”

Heaven has always spoken the language of unity.

Now, I want to add a principle of profound spiritual consequence, one that echoes through psychology, scripture, and eternal identity. It has been said:

Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.

Thoughts do not form in a vacuum. Words do not sprout from isolation. Actions are not born in emptiness.
We become like those we consistently stand beside.

If we spend time with cynicism, we will speak cynicism.
If we surround ourselves with anger, we will act with anger.
If we walk with those who cling to doubt, we will soon breathe doubt.
If our closest associations treat sacred things lightly, our habits will follow.

Likewise, if we spend time with those who radiate faith, we will speak faith.
If we walk with the prayerful, we will act with prayerfulness.
If our circle is made of the pure-hearted and the humble, habits of holiness will quietly form within us.
And over time, this shapes something eternally significant, our character.

I have known homes and individuals where the Spirit is felt before a single word is spoken, because the very character of the person invites heaven. They have chosen thoughts that elevate, words that heal, actions that bless, and habits that sanctify, and thus their character reflects the Savior.

We must remember that we are the beloved children of God. You were not created to be diminished by the spiritual static of the world. You were made to rise. Some relationships clarify our worth. Others make us question it. Some interactions deepen our peace. Others disturb it.

If someone draws you farther from the Spirit, pay attention.
If someone clouds your clarity, notice.
If someone weakens your hope, take that seriously.

The Lord commands us to stand in holy places.
Holy places are not only temples.
Holy places can be friendships.
Holy places can be relationships
Holy places can be families.
Holy places can be the company we keep.

Sometimes the holiest place you can stand is next to someone who loves the Lord.

May we, each of us, become that kind of soul, someone whose influence lifts another, someone whose presence brings the Spirit, someone whose thoughts, words, actions, and character point steadily, unmistakably, toward Jesus Christ.

I testify that our associations shape our eternal possibilities. If we walk with those who walk with Christ, life becomes holier, clearer, brighter, and more hopeful. Our hearts beat more like His. Our habits become sanctified. And slowly, almost imperceptibly, our character begins to reflect Him.

Vivió junto a Sus discípulos.

Y poco a poco, casi imperceptiblemente, nuestro carácter comienza a reflejarlo a Él.
